I’m curious, why so many young people are asking and answering questions in the senior citizens forum?
I don’t mind their input, I’m just curious why they find this senior citizen spot so interesting.

Im hoping that all the BS is not in this location as it is in the others I have been in, Thanks for letting me in. Oh, Im 50 so I am a sr.right ?
I second Adam’s answer in part. Same reason an atheist answers questions in religious section. Doesn’t mean a young person can’t have good input, as good as us oldies. Also hearing many sides and opinions is better than the same old. Atheism is not a religion btw.
This S.C. category has less nonsense,(most times, lol,) wiser and willing to help people in it. Also S.C. generally is generally less judgmental and just a place where you can get that warm fuzzy feeling (with the exception of that occasion ole sorehead that wanders through once in a blue moon.) Most seniors I’ve seen here are good people, they don’t bite, but don’t be fooled, if you are disrespectful to S.C. you might get gummed! Just kidding and please, no offense was meant.
Well you are not clear as to what you mean by young people…I am 54 and personally I like it best because this area is full of interesting and intelligent people with a great sense of humor so why would I want to be anywhere else…
They know we will give a truthful and honesty answer to their questions
And some of them like to reminisce with us, There are some that ask a question about an elder in their lives
It is because we seniors are such lovely people.
Technically I’m not a senior. I’m 45. I’ve been here for well over a year and have made some wonderful friends here. Why do I come? I come here because I can better relate to the people here than to younger people. Most people here are very witty and clever. They’re intelligent, not foolish.
To make it short they’re just simply MORE FUN!!!
…AND, they never ask to see your AARP card at the door! HA!
When it says Seniors they don’t realize that it doesn’t mean High school or college.
Of course, I go to the Polls & Surveys section so everyone is welcome.
They think a senior in high school is a "senior citizen" so they answer from that perspective.
I am just glad they do. As a senior and as active member for over a year I think that the input is a good thing.
More answers and more input = this is a good thing.
There are no rules that say you can’t. I answer questions in many groups and I am never challenged cause I am older. So I say live and let live.
I understand your question. I find the "spot" interesting because of all the great input that you get.
Hello, Where better than to read the wisdom of rambling Q/A from those on the medi medicat medications.
It is a surprise that young people want to lounge in the Senior Citizen area because I have always been told that young people do not show any respect for the elders and instead reticule them.
By their answers / questions I do believe they think it is a senior in high school site.
how tha hell did i end up in senior citizens section?
wtf
I’m a senior citizen and I have seen the young people answer a question in any category they know nothing about and say "Thanks for the 2 points". When they don’t know something, they are happy for the points regardless of the question or category.
Everything that falls under the category Society and Culture is shown on that particular page. Senior Citizens shows up there. That’s why people other than Senior Citizens answer them.
I see it as a compliment, most times. Some teens are curious as to what we have learned in our long lives, and if we are wise or not. Some come in just to have "fun" they think. Usually though, they find that their kind of humor and remarks are not very accepted by this senior group.
I love answering a good question from a young person. I would like to think that is one reason we are on Answers, to try and assist another in some way or another and if it is a young person, all the better.
I think because the subjects are broad or should be allowed. Don’t forget they have seniors in their families and could be learning how to relate to them here. Would that not be a wonderful thing?
they see it as high school seniors.
Well, I have lived all my life in a neighborhood where most of the people are senior citizens. I am age 56 now. What I saw, and see, all my life, is horrible aging when you grow older. When I was younger, I was terrified to grow older. Then at age 36, I started weightlifting. Now I look forward to growing older. (Look at Clint Eastwood or Jack LaLanne). I get stronger every year of my life. But still I see people around me growing older HORRIBLY BAD.
Because when you go to society & culture look at the choices you have….seniors, disabilities, LQTB, so hopefully we’re safe here in our little corner (with the occasional troll)
when they post their q, yahoo picks up on the word senior. the kids don’t look at what category yahoo is placing their question in, they just click submit.
it’s kind of annoying sometimes
Why do atheists answer in the Religion and Spirituality section and then say atheism is not a Religion? I suppose people just go to wherever they want. But, I am a senior citizen. I did not realize there was such a section as senior citizens. It is not that easy to find.
Its simple really, the other sites tend to be riddled with lunatics hurling insults at each other, racists, sexists, perverts, and idiots.
Coming to seniors is like coming to Grandpa and Grandma’s, its relatively peaceful, suportive and reassuring, and the bonus of an unshockable, non-judgemental Grandma and Grandpa.
We listen, we care, we offer the best advise we have and we like seeing the young folks dropping in to visit. Good kids for the most part and welcome here IMO
It’s because we get really bored…and if not, maybe it’s cause the "senior citizen" is more open to young individuals that intrigues their curiosity.
I think the questions are easier and faster to answer. Those seniors already know theanswers to most of the hard questions so they never ask those.
Maybe because they find honest answers that are not meant to be harmful.
Good question, let’s hope they are trying to benefit from our wisdom lol.
how old do you have to be on the senior spot ? age is just a number !
Summer Breeze and Lona are right. I have always thought that the kids may think they are "seniors" and "citizens" and therefore ask their questions. I find them enjoyable for the most part.
Sure beats "What colours do older people like?" eh?
I think there looking for knowledge that we have and not all the hype in the other forums. Besides we been there done that and know what its all about.
They post because they can. Or they wander in accidently thinking we are high school kids … don’t even wanna go back there for a reunion, let alone a prom. Thank you very much.
