What are the necessary items in a first aid kit?

I work in a museum that have operating machines, and there is a possibility, with many of the school groups coming through, that one of the children may get hurt. I was checking the first aid kit (I took CPR courses, so this was worrisome to me) and found it had only bandages and a few gauze pads. So I was just wondering, what are some items that are a necessity in a first aid kit?

  1. bandages that are also latex free, tape, sterile gloves (again, also latex free ones), alcohol swabs, hydrocortosone cream, butterfly stitches, Q-tips and also roll gauze.
    you can buy preassembled kits..

  2. A wide assortment of bandages and Gauze and tape should be about all you need. You need to be able to stop bleeding and start hearts beating. After that, I would leave it to the Paramedics.

Wouldn’t hurt to have oxygen and a CPR mask if you intend to do the breathing.
